General Information

The „XXI. Tage der Seltenen Erden“ will take place from December 4th to December 6th, 2008, at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. The campus is easily reached by public transportation (U-Bahnhaltestelle Universität, see "Getting there and around"), and ample parking space is provided. The city of Bochum has several reasonably priced accomodations (see “Accomodation”).

The program structure will be as follows:
We will start with the conference on December 4th at 9:00h. The winner of the Terrae Rarae Award 2007, Prof. Dr. John Corbett, will give the opening lecture followed by short oral talks. On December 5th, we will continue the program from 8:30h on. In the evening, there will be a poster session (posters should be up the whole duration of the conference) followed by a conference dinner. During this event, the award Terrae Rarae 2008 will be presented. On December 6th, 2008, from 8:30h to 12:00h, there will be both invited and contributed talks. There will be no conference fee.

Contributions, both oral and poster, are welcome. Please use the "registration form". Together with that form we ask for an abstract (see sample abstract for formatting etc.). Deadline for the submission of abstracts is November 1st, 2008. We plan to publish the abstracts as a book in the Naturwissenschaft und Technik Verlag (incl. ISBN number). Each participant will be provided with an electronic version of this book.
November 1, 2008 is also the deadline for registration.
