ANABEL

Ausbreitungsrechnungen für Nordrhein-Westfalen zur Anwendung im Rahmen der BEurteilung der Luftqualität nach EU-Richtlinien


The EURAD model has been used in ANABEL to calculate the status of air quality in North-Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) for the year 1997. The nested version of the EURAD model has been applied. The air quality simulations for the European scale are carried out with a horizontal grid resolution of 125 km, an intermediate nest (N1) is used for Central and Western Europe with a grid size of 25 km and NRW has been calculated with a resolution of 5 km.

The results of the numerical simulation have been used to analyse the air quality in NRW with respect to the EU directive 96/62 and its daughter directives (e.g. 99/30) on air quality in Europe. The analysis has been focused on NRW, but the European scale also has been considered.

The results have been presented on different national and international conferences (e.g. the EUROTRAC symposium in 2002, the GLOREAM workshop in Aveiro (Portugal), 2002, the European Aerosol Conference in Madrid (September 2003; Memmesheimer et al., 2003) and others.
