"The souvereigns of the molecules" - An exciting tour through the world of modern
chemistry. Produced in 2003, this film shows in 18 minutes that chemical reactions
take place everywhere - even in our bodies. Products from the chemists' laboratories
- the souvereigns of the molecules - shape our everyday life: clothes and sports
equipment made of plastics, computer chips made of silicon, cars with fuell cells,
and mobile phone displays made of luminous LEDs. A film which completes chemistry
lessons at schools and gets across to pupils aged 12 to 18 that chemistry is indeed
everywhere.
Evaluation:
The fact that modern chemistry produces innovative materials is nowadays considered
more or less as self-evident and therefore registered consciously only marginally.
The film tries in an impressive manner to do away with this notion and to make aware
of the continiously proceeding search for new materials, without which our everyday
life cannot be imagined.
