Scientific Career and Interest

Research interests: Taxonomy, ecology, and conservation of dung beetles in Viet Nam

Scientific Career
Since 2015: PhD student at the Institute of Zoology, University of Cologne, Germany
2007-2010: Master student at the Faculty of Natural Resource and Environmental Management, Vietnam Forestry University, Hanoi, Vietnam.

PhD Project
I began my PhD programe at the Institute of Zoology, University of Cologne in June 2015 with the topic “Dung beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) as sensitive indicators of land use changes and a quantification of their ecosystem services in northeastern Vietnam”
I investigate dung beetle composition, biomass and diversity in limestone karst areas in Pia Oac Nature Reserve (Cao Bang Province) and Pu Luong Nature Reserve (Thanh Hoa Province).

I am aiming to:
• Determine changes in dung beetle communities (species richness, diversity and functional groups) across gradients of land use intensity in limestone areas of Pia Oac (Cao Bang Province) and Pu Luông (Thanh Hoa Province)
• Assess the ecosystem services of dung beetles by suppression of insect pest species
