Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are released by algae and cyanobacteria and can serve as infochemicals signalling the presence of resources both in aquatic and terrestrial food webs. For example, VOCs liberated from cyanobaceteria can be used as habitat-finding cues by nematodes, whereas VOCs released from benthic algae are utilized as food finding cues by the freshwater gastropod Radix ovata. In this project, I investigate the reaction of the freshwater snail Lymnaea stagnalis to the volatiles released from the benthic green alga U. fimbriata.For further information, contact Patrick Fink
