Khoisan-Forum

Khoisan Forum is back!

In 1997, Khoisan Forum was started as a series of working papers by members of the Institut für Afrikanistik, University of Cologne, Germany, in order to publish research results gained in the Sonderforschungsbereich 389 “ACACIA - Arid climate, adaption, and cultural innovation in Africa”. This research project has received financial support from the German Research Foundation. Very soon, however, other scholars were invited to share their research findings on Khoisan languages and cultures in this publication series. Edited by Gertrud Boden, Matthias Brenzinger, Bernd Heine, Christa Kilian-Hatz, Mathias Schladt, Yvonne Treis and Friederike Wilkening, a total of 18 issues of the Khoisan Forum appeared between 1997 and 2002.

In 2010, Matthias Brenzinger and Anne-Maria Fehn decided to revive the Khoisan Forum, now as an online publication. The back numbers have been reformatted and edited for online publication and are now accessible on this website. Most of these “reprinted” issues have been revised by the authors as well as by the editors, thus they are not identical with the original versions. We, the editors, look forward to receiving further manuscripts on Khoisan linguistics and will also attempt to include audio and visual materials. Submissions and enquiries are most welcome and should be directed to matthias.brenzinger @ uni-koeln.de (Dr. Matthias Brenzinger) and anne.fehn@uni-koeln.de (Anne-Maria Fehn).

We, the editors, hope that this page will expand and develop into a high-quality platform for regular academic exchange on Khoisan language studies. The Khoisan Forum will provide relevant links and include information on publications and current research projects, as well as CVs and publication lists of Khoisanists. For this latter information, we are asking all colleagues to either forward details directly to us or to point out links to already existing compilations of data, so that we can build up an ever expanding online collection of valuable Khoisan material.
