About
Chinese Studies in The Professorship of Sinology (Chinese studies) and
Manchurian studies at the University of Cologne was created in 1960 and
directed by Prof. Dr. Walter Fuchs, who held the chair until 1970, when his
directives were continued by his student Prof. Dr. Martin Gimm. After Prof.
Dr. Martin Gimm became Professor Emeritus in 1996, the subject Manchurian studies
was struck from the Register of the Philosophy Faculty and is unfortunately
no longer offered by the The reference library at the Institute is in the
process of being digitalised and is fortunately accessible again here.
Books, which have not yet been digitalised (those purchased pre-1996) can be
found in the computerised index-card catalogue (same link as above). Enquiries about studying Sinology and queries
specifically concerning Classical Chinese Studies will be integrated
into the new B.A. study course Asian Cultures and Societies (KuGa) or
into the M.A. study course Chinese Studies from the Winter semesters
2007 / 2008 and 2008 / 2009 respectively. More information (German version)
about KuGa can be found at http://www.uni-koeln.de/phil-fak/studium/studieninformationen/bama/studiengaenge. The dates for the last possible intermediate examination (Zwischenprüfung)
as well as those for the last possible Magister examination can be requested
from the University Secretariat. |
