Tatsächlich handelt es sich um eine einfache (allerdings philologisch kontrollierte) Textausgabe mit Anmerkungsapparat und Übersetzung. Das Ganze ist Teil des "Philological Museum", einer digitalen Bibliothek neulateinischer Texte.

La présente édition se base sur l'unique édition que l'Essai sur le récit à connu, à notre connaissance, et qui date de 1776. Die Site bietet sowohl annotierte elektronische Texte der anthumen englischen Lyrik Grays als auch weiterführende Sekundärliteratur, wie einen biographischen Abriss, eine chronologische Tabelle von Leben und Werk, eine Auswahlbibliographie, eine Galerie und Links zu verwandten Online-Ressourcen. Die Texte können sowohl über einen direkten Zugriff auf Textebene erforscht als auch mit einer Suchmaschine durchsucht werden. Der Nutzer hat dabei Zugriff auf einen umfangreichen Anmerkungsapparat, der ständig durch Kooperation von Wissenschaftlern erweitert werden soll. Eigene Anmerkungen können dabei direkt über ein Webformular zu jeder beliebigen Textstelle eingegeben werden.

Michael John Gorman, 1998-2003. Projekt zur Erschließung der Korrespondenz Kirchers. Es gibt eine ältere Projekt-Adresse am Florentiner Institut und Museum für Wissenschaftsgeschichte. Unter der Stanford-Adresse ist die Installation eines DjVu-Plugins und weiterer Software nötig, um zu den Briefen zu kommen, die in einer Datenbank sachlich erschlossen sind und als digitale Abbildungen angeboten werden.
Andere Teile der Korrespondenz sind übrigens an der Herzog-August-Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel digitalisiert, transkribiert, übersetzt und publiziert worden.

Ziel des Projektes ist es, die insgesamt ca. 30.000 Seiten umfassenden Beschreibungstexte sowie die rund 1.000 Karten der Gebiete Pommerns nördlich der Peene in einer wissenschaftlichen Edition unter Anwendung modernster technischer Standards im Internet zur Verfügung zu stellen. Die bereits gedruckten Bände sind teilweise als PDFs verfügbar (z.B. aus Reihe VII). Reihe VIII (Naturwissenschaftliche Schriften) soll als Hybrid-Edition (Buch und Online) fortgeführt werden. Die Editionsmaterialien aus diesem Bereich kontextualisierend werden in Wolfenbüttel außerdem "Texte der Leibnizzeit" digitalisiert.

Älteres, wohl seit 2000 nicht mehr fortgeführtes Projekt zur Edition eines Korpus von 99 Briefen. Die Texte sind in TEI-SGML codiert. Aus diesen sehr tief ausgezeichneten Daten ("lexical tagging, semantic tagging and analytical tagging") sind eine ganze Reihe von traditionellen (Namen, Orte, Glossar), dann aber auch zusätzlich 28 (!) "analytischen" Registern generiert worden. Abbildungen stehen nicht zur Verfügung.

"An Electronic Edition". By Hilary Binda, Tufts University, Medford/Somerville (MA), 2000. Älteres Editionsprojekt, begonnen 1996, seit 2000 anscheinend nicht mehr weiter geführt. Das SGML-/TEI-basierte Projekt bietet die gesammelten Werke Christopher Marlowes mit einer teilweise sehr hohen Zahl von Varianten. Die TEI-Auszeichnung der Dokumente wird in der Edition u.a. zur farbigen Markierung unterschiedlicher Textabschnitte genutzt. Für einen Spezialfall, den "Doctor Faustus" gibt es eine synoptische Edition, die den Vergleich zwischen drei Textvarianten erlaubt.

Die auf TEI-Code basierende Ausgabe bietet verschiedene Transkriptionsformen, digitale Abbildungen, eine Suchmaschine und umfangreiches weiteres Material inhaltlicher und formaler Art in einer einfachen HTML-Oberfläche.

"È stato elaborato un linguaggio originale [Mauro-TeX] per la trascrizione e l'edizione critica dei testi, che permette la costruzione di un apparato critico uniforme per tutta l'edizione a partire da un qualunque numero di testimoni. Opportuni programmi permettono poi l'estrazione del testo dei testimoni stessi e la stampa del testo critico sia in forma cartacea che in formato pdf e html. Bereits 1997 begonnen handelt es sich vom Selbstverständnis her um eine "digitale Bibliothek" transkribierter und inhaltlich annotierter Texte.

Guy de Pernon, 2003-2005. Text (Bücher I-III) nach der Ausgabe von 1595 mit moderner französischer Übersetzung, Kommentar und "Glossaire des noms" (eine Art erweitertes Personenregister). Die Edition ist als Web-Fassung und als "DigiLivre" verfügbar. Das letztere ist ein ausführbares Programm, das aus dem Netz zu laden ist. Es bietet eine synoptische Fassung von insgesamt vier verschiedenen Ausgaben des Werkes.

Wikisource dient vor allem als Plattform für die Erarbeitung von Volltexten aus gedruckten oder handschriftlichen Vorlagen. Die meisten Texte sind "flach", es gibt aber auch einige, die quellen- und textkritische Ambitionen haben und deshalb in die Nähe kritischer Editionen kommen. Zu diesen gehören z.B. aus der deutschen Wikisource die Drei Register Arithmetischer ahnfeng zur Practic oder die Zimmerische Chronik

"Ziel des seit April 1997 bestehenden Projekts ist die Publikation der textkritischen Edition von Huldreich Zwinglis sämtliche Werke auf CD-ROM. Neben allen Zwingli-Texten (mit ihrem textkritischen Apparat) bietet die Publikation zusätzlich Abbildungen der wichtigsten Handschriften und Deckblätter der Erstdrucke. Entscheidender Unterschied zur Buchedition ist jedoch die Bereitstellung folgender Register: ein Verzeichnis sämtlicher (nachgewiesener) Bibelstellen, ein Register der Eigennamen, aufgeteilt in Personen- und geographische Namen, eine lemmatisierte Konkordanz zu den (frühneuhoch)deutschen Texten".
