Biomass values for animals were taken as 360 kg cattle; 40 kg goat; 60 kg dorper sheep; 40 kg karakul sheep; 250 kg

compilation:

donkey, based on pers. comm. with Nico de Klerk. The 10 x 10 km grids of livestock density for cattle (Fig 5.25), goats

(5.27), sheep bred for meat (5.28), karakul sheep (5.29) and donkeys (5.26) were converted into kg/ha using the above

biomass values, and summed to give an overall stocking rate for each 10 x 10 grid cell in kg/ha, with parks masked out.
