Es ist wahrlich nicht lobenswert, wenn junge Backfischchen einem Manne am Theaterausgang auflauern, um ihn aus der Nähe zu sehen, oder wenn sie ihn bei der ersten besten Gelegenheit umdrängen mit der Bitte um eine Autogramm, oder wenn sie ihm sogar Briefchen schreiben, um ihre Bewunderung auszusprechen. Ein Mädchen soll sich Herren gegenüber schon früh in jener vornehmen Zurückhaltung üben, die einer wirklichen Dame eigen ist.

And now one more thing, young ladies: What is the point of this pointless infatuation with a stage hero? It is truly not praiseworthy when young girls lie in wait for a man at the theater exit just to see him up close, or when they crowd around him at the first opportunity to ask for an autograph, or when they even write him little letters to express their admiration. A girl should practice, from an early age, that refined reserve toward gentlemen that is characteristic of a true lady.
