Leading a junior research group is an important step in the career development of postdoctoral researchers. With the panel discussion ‘Junior Research Groups – the next step towards independence’, we would like to highlight the various aspects of junior research group funding programmes and present strategies that pave the way to qualification for a professorship or other leadership positions in this important career phase.
The Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Dr. Carien Niessen, will open the event. The panel discussion will be moderated by Elena Martins, Dept. 74 International Funding. The following successful junior research group leaders will share their experiences:
Dr. Emma Fenech, Biochemistry | Emmy Noether Programme
Prof. Dr. Stephanie Kath-Schorr, Organic Chemistry | Plus 3 Perspectives
Programme, Boeringer Ingelheim Foundation
Prof. Dr. Pia Pinger, Economics | ERC Starting Grant
Dr. Jane Reznick, CECAD | ERC Starting Grant

Finally, there will be an opportunity to talk to the panel participants during a networking lunch. Staff from the Albertus Magnus Center, the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine and Department 7 Research Management will also be present at information tables.
