Members of the DIES ProGRANT Alumni Network have successfully completed each of the four ProGRANT phases and are, thus, advanced in proposal writing. The DIES ProGRANT Alumni commu­nity of academic professionals is highly diverse in regards to their countries of origins, cultures as well as their fields of research. This group of individuals represents a high-potential pool of professionals that are crucial multipliers for proposal writing and subject specific knowledge. Through this workshop the UoC Coordination Center seeks to strengthen the alumni’s skills in teaching in higher education.

ProGRANT Multiplication Trainings 2023

The last module of the DIES ProGRANT Trainer Academy, the DIES ProGRANT Multiplication Trainings, will be offered for the third time by the University of Cologne in 2023. In this phase, the ProGRANT Alumni who took part in the Alumni Workshop or the Train-the-Trainer Workshop are further equipped to become Head Trainers who are to supervise ProGRANT Classic Courses themselves in future. The University of Cologne offers funds for an independently planned and implemented proposal writing course organized by the new ProGRANT Trainers. Since our DIES ProGRANT Classic Courses are held in Africa and South East Asia in 2023, applications for DIES ProGRANT Multiplication Trainings in Latin America and the MENA region will be accepted for this call.

The course is part of the DIES (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies) program which is jointly coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ). The aim of DIES ProGRANT is to train younger researchers and young PhD holders in developing a promising proposal for national or international research funding (every participant will have the opportunity to tailor their application to the funding institution of their choice). Researchers from all disciplines can apply for this course. DIES ProGRANT is also an effective tool for promoting international research and relationships.

Important Information: For the first phase (Online Self-Study), up to 100 applicants will be selected. At the end of the section, all participants have to submit a three-page proposal. A selection of 30 participants will be made according to the quality of the uploaded proposal. The 30 most successful participants will move from section 2 through section 4. The course fee for the four-stage program is 50 Euros per participant. The course fee only has to be paid by those selected after the first phase.

Train the Trainer Workshop 2014

The workshop “Enhancing academic capacity building in the Global South: DIES Proposal Writing Courses for Research Projects” hence addresses established researchers from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia who are interested in joining the pool of Proposal Writing experts, promoting and conducting the DIES Proposal Writing Courses for Research Projects in their home regions and possibly linking them to their home institutions.
