Third hand accoounts
There are many second and third hand accounts on fan mail to stars in the 1910s and later, both in the media and in memoirs. The following excerpts (which will constantly be supplemented in the course of our research project) may convey an impression of the typical discourse on fan mail in this kind of sources:
